Comic Con Pressroom Confidential: Stalking the Moonlight Boys

I have a magic phone. Whenever I call my co-worker and fellow Moonlight fiend Chandra, I can summon Alex O'Loughlin and Jason Dohring. Though it seems to have stopped working here in Ohio. Believe me, I've tried to recapture the magic.

I was relatively well-behaved most of the weekend. I acted like a professional around Seth Green, Stan Lee, the Battlestar folks, the many comic book artists and authors I had the pleasure of speaking with.

Moonlight10 But following Sunday's Moonlight panel, a threesome of myself, Jason Smith and our new friend, Tanya, decided to do a little stalking (well, Jason Smith stood guard while we resisted the urge to jump the Moonlight boys). We positioned ourselves across from the stage exit, between it and the green room entrance and between that area and the only stairs out of the joint. We waited. And waited. And waited.

Finally, I gave up and decided to call Chandra to give her all the delicious Moonlight scoop. I was about three words into prattling on about the panel when what do we spy, but a leather jacket-clad Jason Dohring and Alex O'Loughlin striding across the floor.

We were close enough to see Jason Dohring pause to check out the free movie poster table (I'm pretty sure he was looking at the "Iron Man" one).

They disappeared into the green room (across from the press room) and security took up residence, so we headed up to the floor for a while to enjoy the many freebies and costumed attendees.

About an hour or so later, we decided we wanted to check on the status of our Moonlight boys (Tanya called dibs on Jason Dohring while I graciously took Alex off her hands). The security guard was still there, so we dawdled, debating whether to stalk more or try another panel.

Kiddingly, I pulled out my phone to call Chandra again. I got as far as "The Moonlight panel was awesome" when the green room door swung open and the duo headed to the press room (flanked, again, by security)

Com_con_pass But - ah - I had a press pass.

I am a horrible, horrible person -- murmuring "sorry" and "I just have to..." I left Jason Smith and Tanya in the dust and flew into the room after them. Not terribly stalkerish, right?

I broke out the laptop and decided I needed to blog right that minute. At the table in front of the Moonlight guys as they did their interviews with the two print media guys who got the golden tickets from Winson Seto at Warner Brothers.

Jason2_2  Jason Smith joined me, but he thought Tanya had a press pass. She didn't, so he was a nice guy and compromised, taking her camera in to get a few shots before the security guards gave him the stink eye.

Me? I sat right in front of them. I couldn't really hear the interview (the press room was awful loud), but I saw Jason Dohring shed his leather jacket (just as cute without), Alex chowing down on something (a burger? It was in a wrapped from the food court grill) and the two trade spots for their next interview.

Poor Winson may have suspected I was a rabid fan (my tendency to type without looking at the keyboard while darting glances across the room and I was the first person in line and I tried to snag an interview), but he didn't haul me out by my backpack. Nice guy, though.

Jason1_2 After an ever-so-brief 20 minutes or so, Jason Dohring shrugged back into his leather jacket and Alex begged for a bathroom break, then they were off to another interview, this time with a video crew, away from the noisy press room and leaving me and my laptop -- and a laughing Jason Smith -- behind.

the poor thing... hehehehhehehhehe so how did you get him to sign your pass? and how much would you sell it for :p

I got that right after the panel - Jason and Alex did autographs and photos from the stage.
Jason Smith - the graphics editor - gave me a big push to the front and both signed things for me (all I had was my reporter's notebook for Jason and my press pass for Alex) ;)
